Asked to share deal-related documents for an interview
Interviewing for a VP-level role and have been asked to bring materials related to a non-live transaction I've worked on (models, memos etc.) to assess my work and capabilities (assume this is in lieu of doing a case study). Obviously mindful of my confidentiality obligations to my current firm and the other parties involved in the transaction and feel like this is a test of some sort - unsure what the best way to proceed is?
Thinking of creating a fresh deck with fictional names and numbers but retaining the structure of the deal and mentioning that for obvious reasons I cannot share actual materials even if redacted.
Has anyone been in this position?
I'd be wary too, I would never share anything from your current company in terms of any decks or models. I've put together a deck from a past interview and share that as a work sample, but somewhat surprised you're getting this ask at the VP level. Just say you can't share, but happy to talk through deals you've closed/worked on to show you know what you're talking about, that should suffice.
