Asset Management (IN) -> MBA (US) -> Private Equity

Hey everyone,

I was just wondering about the chances of someone from Asset Management pivoting to PE post MBA. A bit of background, I'm from India, working in a local botique Asset Management Fund. I'm part of Portfolio Management and Due Diligence and I have 6 years of experience. I currently manage a $43M multi asset investment fund.

I plan on pursuing an MBA in the US (graduating by 2026) and I eventually want to end up in PE. Now I understand that PE firms mainly look for deal experience. I was wondering if I'd stand a fair shot or if you guys would suggest I move to Investment Banking (M&A) first (Post MBA) and PE a few years later.

Cheers!
