Bro wtf you mean “putting preferences aside?” Everyone who answers this is going to have a preference because these are all top positions and there’s no clear-cut right answer
Yea...If you're interested in investing across all parts of cap structure -> BCC
If you're interested in traditional buyout -> MF PE
If you want optionality/pursue banking long time -> EB IB is what I would think
MF PE keeps more options opened and will also allow to go easily back to banking should you want to
True – BCC would probably keep doors open for Restructuring IB roles due to cap structure exposure, but would have to work for M&A. Don't think it'd be impossible given Bain Cap name if you are dedicated in re-recruiting for M&A IB
Is it common for people to go from BCC to a sell side role like RX/M&A IB? I don’t think I’ve seen this before.
You usually wouldn't because BCC is the exit opp, not really where you start except for the few interns that make it out of undergrad. Most join from IB after a levfin or restructuring stint from what I've seen.
I don’t know why you would want to make that move. BCC is where people are trying to get to FROM IB in order to settle into a role with better WLB/more interesting work and similar pay
