Best Books Under 200 Pages
Hey, I think the PE group is one of the more intelligent groups in the forum, so I have a question: What do you guys/girls think are the best books under 200 pages? I like my occasional 400 page book, but you can only read so many of them, unless you are fast or dedicated reader. General reading could be a classic, finance, history, economics, government, strategy etc.
Tao of Pooh
The lessons of history - will and Ariel Durant
chess story - stefan zweig
both about 100 pages.
The Great Gatsby
I love the Little Prince and it’s like 100 pages with pictures.
When Breath Becomes Air is pretty moving. Contextualized mortality under the lens of a high achiever which may be unsettling but I enjoyed it a lot.
Second this rec. Great book and very quick read.
I think Rich Dad Poor Dad might be under 200 pages. Also The alchemist by Paul C.
Enjoyed The Alchemist
Animal Farm, Of Mice and Men, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and A Clockwork Orange are all under 200 pages, with the first three being about 100 each
Of Mice and Men?? No
Mans search for Meaning -Viktor Frankl
Few books have been as life changing as that one for me and it’s like 188 pages. It sounds stupid, but here’s the backstory:
Its a true story about the founder of logotherapy (a school of psychological thought that basically says people need meaning in their life and helps them attribute purpose to deal with life’s issues). The kicker—he discovered this because he was a psychoanalyst that went through the Holocaust. In the book he explains we he thinks happened to his and others brains and each step of the Holocaust from why he didn’t leave before it, to getting off the train, to watching people die, to the behavior people exhibited after surviving and their psychology. The book helped me be a happier person and was the single most effective tool for treating my ptsd.
Short but really heavy intense read—again he literally describes watching friends die and the worst tragedy of mankind in graphic first person detail. However, the crazy part is—he lived a happy and accomplished life. I would argue it’s the single best book for understanding how to go through a tough experience.
Thanks guys, lots of good choices
What I Learned Losing A Million Dollars by Brendan Moynihan
The Stranger by Albert Camus, might be a bit depressing though so I would try to avoid if you are feeling down.
Great pick. The Myth of Sisyphus is another of my favorites.
Recently purchased it, should be a good read!
The Richest Man in Babylon
