Best division at Blackstone?

Since applications for Blackstone SA London should be opening soon, I wanted to get some info on the different BX divisions. From what I've found on WSO, there are only a couple of posts discussing individual divisions, but how do they compare with each other? Which BX divisions are the best to go for for the SA and for a FT analyst role? i.e. which are the up-and-coming ones, best exit ops, etc.

Any help would be incredibly useful.

Blackstone has tentacles everywhere. Its one of the best, if not the best, private equity firms in the world based on its pioneer status (1985), deal notoriety (Hilton Hotels), prestige (its easier to get into Harvard) and AUM ($434B). Additionally, it offers hedge funds, which is different from its direct investments in actual hedge fund firms. Over the last few years, BX has bolstered its credit arm (i.e. investments in leveraged and distressed debt). It recently became the world's largest [commercial?] landlord.

With that being said, the two best divisions at Blackstone are private equity and real estate (tied, IMO) because of the firm's historical roots, transaction expertise, and active focus on those asset classes.

Careful what you wish for though. Just as with any large institution, I imagine its pretty structured and bureaucratic, meaning you may not get well-rounded experience as you would at other MM PE firms where you may need (and want) to wear multiple hats to reduce monotony. I've heard of people at BX and other similar shops getting burned out quickly doing the same few tasks (aka being an Excel monkey). If you want to move up, you have to constantly watch your back; you're going to be competing with others that are just as qualified and hungry, probably more so than yourself. After all, we're talking about NYC.
