Money's effect on happiness is complex, primarily acting to increase happiness up to a point by providing security and allowing for basic needs to be met, but research shows that beyond a certain income level, additional money has a diminishing or non-existent effect on happiness. While a higher income is linked to greater life satisfaction and can buffer against unhappiness from stressors, happiness ultimately depends more on strong relationships, purpose, and how money is used, rather than just its amount.
