Referring to the title, am I the only one who thinks that the PE scene in B Hills is the most difficult club to break into? Lifestyle and atmosphere seems highly coveted. I would like to hear about those who broke in and those who have tried, what the culture is like and so forth. Obviously, I know it’s firm dependent, but overall.

Hi Joe: You are absolutely correct in regard to the PE market in Beverly Hills. I have 3 awesome deals that I have the entire deal down with an exit strategy. Two deals are immediate home runs with one I don't need any equity from the PE firm, I just need their credibility as it is a debt deal which I can do all day long. It is a $6 billion deal that is a piece of cake, but I can't get into platinum Equity and Tom Gores who owns the Pistons would eat up this deal. I am from Michigan too and the deal is in Michigan.
It seems the PE people in Beverly Hills think I am from the farm. They sniff at me and while I am NOBODY right now, I like everybody will be somebody pretty soon with or without them. I can do these deals in my own backyard, but I wanted to set up a West Coast operation for my company and I thought by offering great deals that I could just walk and present the deal. I understand that the deal may not be their bailiwick but what if it is?
I don't know what to do about this. I have reached out to 3 firms and one I met the Managing Director at a social setting and we exchanged business cards and talked about the deal a bit and she seemed to be interested in doing one of the deals and referring me for the other one, but not a peep to my two emails.
I have a company that is new but I have been in the field for 40 years and have originated and closed on my own over $1.5 billion in CRE and business loans. That doesn't seem to resonate with anyone out here. If I was back in Michigan at a cigar bar, I would have 3 offers in two days and the deals would be closed by now. I'm out here sitting on my hands. Yikes. Any thoughts for this struggling nobody??? Thanks. Jeff
