CAIA Debate

Considering taking the CAIA level 1, and have been debating if it’s worth allocating hours to complete. Pros being that it’s alternatives focused, fairly high pass rates at around 53% (higher for level 2), and the charter is roughly 17 years old and can be perceived as being ahead of the curve. Cons being that it’s alternatives focused and therefore niche, has fairly high pass rates and can be seen as easier than a comparable CFA, and is only 17 years old and does not have enough of a serious weight in the business world. Help a brotha out

I spent the last year getting a CAIA and its currently on my resume as I am looking for PE and IB roles. I have only been asked about it once (in my 30+ conversations) and even then it was more of what topics are covered. At the end of the day, CFA is more respectable. The only reason why I went after the CAIA is because I like learning and the circulium is def. more interesting than CFA, but I do plan on getting the CFA in the future. I wouldn't bother if you are using it to get a leg up in recruiting.

It's next to worthless, don't bother. No well regarded firms give it any serious weight. If you want a certification that actually adds to your resume there's CFA and that's pretty much it.
