I did my analyst years at a well-regarded MM IB in a major city. Went to a LMM PE fund in the midwest for 1.5 years, and am now back in IB at a EB as an associate.
I'll be honest... the main reason I took the offer is to get back into a major city, because it was basically handed to me and for that sweet sweet EB IB associate comp. But also, I know 100% that I don't want to do traditional LBO style PE.
I don't have the personality to make it in banking long term. With my profile, if I were wanting to get back on the buyside again either in early stage growth or even public markets, do you think I would get looks? I'm not sure how 1.5 years of LMM PE experience is viewed in the marketplace. Should I have just stayed a full 2 years instead?
