Career in PE: MBA Finance or Master of Finance?
Fresh graduate, currently have job offers from two firms: consulting business analyst in (think LEK/Parthenon/ATK/Accenture) vs S&T non-BB (think Nomura, Wells Fargo, HSBC). First option will allow me to have a better shot in MBA Fin, the other offer will allow me a better shot in MoF. Which would be a better suited trajectory for me considering that I want to end up in a PE or HF?
Also considering that MoF would save me 3 years (2 work experience + 1 studying).
Correct me if I'm wrong somewhere, additional inputs appreciated.
If you want to pursue a graduate degree, then no brainer MBA. Most MoF programs are just money bags to collect tuition from wealthy Asian families to fund other programs of the school. MoF will not provide you with the same kind of opportunities as that of MBA. I'd say consulting to M7 would be a good path.
If you're interested in PE, then I'd do consulting, not S&T. Regardless, MBA's the way to go.

MoF won't help unless its at MIT or Princeton
I'd prob go consulting but honestly its a stretch either way
S&T would have a better shot of ending at a HF and consulting for PE

The only MFin worth doing as a mid-career boost is the one from LBS (which is essentially just an MBA in Finance).
Some of those consulting names will get you much farther than others, and it's a pretty obvious choice... think carefully before you pick

I think what he’s hinting at is that L.E.K. and Parthenon both send people to PE more so than an Accenture would, which is still nonetheless a great firm
