Career Transition into Private Equity

I’m in a support role at a well recognized real estate investment management firm. I’m studying for the CFA Level I exam. While I’m not an investment Analyst, I can do what the analyst do and often catch errors the analyst make. How hard will it be to transition into a Private Equity role? What are some skill sets I need to be attractive to the industry? I attended a non-target school for my undergrad. I don’t have a MBA

Yeah specific deal and execution experience is needed but that’s for more established firms.

I definitely think there’s a shot for emerging funds, no traditional, LMM or micro cap. But those won’t compensate as well.

Maybe try taking advantage of the lateral market and shoot for an IB role at a top firm. Taking the shortcut in your situation likely won’t workout with a firm you’d be fully happy with.
