Heard PE associates roll in between 8:30am and 9am (credit starts earlier). I heard mixed thoughts about WLB. Sounds like people are generally nice so you can work around life schedules like dinner and going to the gym, but they run lean deal teams of 3-4 which to me sounds like a lot more responsibility for an associate (could be good or bad depending on how you look at it). In terms of comp, I wasn’t able to get an exact # but sounds like somewhere in the high 300s + levered co-invest.
To me what stood out is that they have cool perks like free meals / snacks and a Google-like gym in the building. I’m at a MF now and it feels like they’re stingy in comparison. I’ll end on this: if you’re considering CB I’d pay close attention to their recent track record because it sounds like they weren’t doing so well pre-pandemic. That may have changed due to recent market conditions but I just haven’t seen any tangible proof yet.
Source: just caught up with a close friend from banking that is over there now.
I'm at CB and can confirm this is pretty spot on. Only thing I'd add on the WLB piece is that we WFH on Monday's and are pretty flexible with WFH Fridays.
Edit: I would also shamelessly add that our returns have been great the past few years ;)
Can you provide any color on Centerbridge real estate? Thank you
Is RE comp same as corp pe comp and wlb?
