Coffee Chat Advice

Hi,

Quick background on me: I'm currently at my last year before graduating with a bachelor's in business (23 y.o at graduation) and I currently have a treasury finance internship at a small regional bank while also studying to write the CFA L1 exam in may.

A few hours ago, a senior private wealth portfolio manager at a big 5 (Canadian) bank called me and we had a long discussion for a potential entry level job in his team. He then scheduled to meet in person to have a coffee chat this Saturday and asked me to prepare some questions.

Here I am seeking for advice :

  1. How is the private wealth finance culture like ? long hours, pay, bonuses, benefits ?
  2. The guy told me he is a board member and has multiple connections in the industry so this seems like a golden opportunity compared to my current internship for future career prospects and I should definitely try to get into this right ?
  3. How should I dress for the coffee chat ? (I was thinking a basic navy long-sleeved turtleneck with a grey plaid blazer and not sure about the pants lol but I think I'm just overthinking at this point)
  4. Most Importantly: I have some general idea of questions I want to ask him but what would be some good talking points that would make me sound at least semi cultured ?

I appreciate any inputs and thanks in advance !

Dont psych yourself out about it, just treat it like a normal conversation. Its most important to be likable. I always like to ask "What is your expectation for someone in this role, as in what do they need to do on a daily basis to have the impact you expect them to have." Also ask "what can I be doing right now that would best prepare me to be successful in this role?"

theres a million good questions you can ask. just prove to him that you're easy to get along with and really interested in the opportunity.
