Comp expectations for a small PE firm?
Hi everyone,
I am currently a manager in a middle market TAS firm in California. I have been in talks with a local PE firm and am getting close to offer discussions. I am hoping to get some insight as to what a reasonable expectation is for compensation. The firm has a few funds totaling around $150 million. My current firm is paying me $145k base plus a bonus. Is that a reasonable starting point for a small PE firm? Appreciate any insight.
Edit: forgot to mention that this would be an associate role.
I doubt you're going to hit that as a base if they only have 150m AUM. Often firms of that size take a huge cut on economics for first dollars in so I bet they aren't getting anywhere near 2% mgmt fees.
I would be very surprised to see a base that high with $150MM AUM. $145k-$175k all-in with probably $100k base and the rest bonus is what I'd expect
