Comp too low?
Team -
just received an Associate 1 position at a $40 - $80B fund (offices globally) for a strategy within that fund (strategy runs low teens $B).
Total comp is pegged at around $210 for first year. Does this seem light or is this on par?
Not for strictly buyout strategy.
Any insight is much appreciated.
Low for a HCOL city, but pretty market for a LCOL city
Seems low given size. There are many growth and secondaries shops with a lot lower AUM that pay more As1. I would think closer to 300k for your role.
Need some more clarification on what the strategy is, which city, etc.
for example, secondaries or pure co-investing salaries are lower than buyout
Similarly, salaries in Tier 2 cities will be lower than Tier 1 cities
Agree with the chorus, this is fine in a Tier 3 city with LCOL but too low for somewhere like NYC.
Would also throw hours into it and strategy into it. Some of these shops that are more lifestyle shops, or maybe are only 50% buyout and mostly doing other strategies, will also discount pay a bit. If you're expected to work 70-80hr weeks and are mostly buyout focused, this is low.
