Corporate Finance at a PE

I have an interview coming up with a PE firm ($2B AUM) as a analyst that will work directly with a CEO of their port co's. The position was described:

  • Provide analytical, forecasting, reporting, and project support to private equity owners and senior management
  • Produce reports, which include key metrics, financial results, and variance analysis
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for performance improvement across the organization
  • Develop models that help with decision-making

Pretty typical for any financial analyst at a F500, pretty generic. I asked what the process was and they said after the screening meet with the VP of the PE who heads the port co, if you make it past that you do a excel assessment, then a intelligence assessment, then an interview with the CEO of the port co. Is this typical for a junior level position at a PE that isn't revenue generating? Seems like a lengthy process to go through two assessments and 3 interviews for a job like this, but anybody have insight to something like this?
