Deal Sourcing PE job

Current BB An2… Have a potential offer to join a PE advisory firm that focuses on deal sourcing for PE firms. Any thoughts on this type of firm? Does it limit my ability to move into a PE or hedge fund type role down the line? What is comp like? Base Is lower than what I currently make, but bonus potential is much higher. They bonus on a per deal basis. Background on the firm: founded a few years ago, small team. Founders are former mega fund PE.

A little confused by your post. Is this role with a PE firm or a buy side M&A advisor that sources deals for PE firms.

I would be skeptical if it is a buy side advisory firm. I would only take this role if you want to build a career in sourcing acquisitions for PE firms.

Also, I am guessing the bonus potential is overstated. I would heavily diligence what other analysts / associates made last year. These roles like to advertise a high OTE but usually only 1 or 2 people are hitting their OTE each year.

PM me and will be able to tell you right away if the firm is legit / worth entertaining.

As others have said, sourcing can be a great role, just know what you're getting into.

I'd personally look for an actual PE firm with a fund to work at vs a buyside firm, all day. This sounds like a fundless sponsor of sorts.

That said, depending on the founders backgrounds and fund status, it might be worth looking at.
