Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know about Vista's culture:
General Consensus on Culture: Vista is a megafund, so the baseline expectation is that the work environment will be demanding. However, there are mixed reviews about the cultural state, especially in the Austin office. Some comments suggest that the culture is below average, while others indicate it is improving, particularly with strides in the Work From Home (WFH) policy.
Hours: The hours can be intense, especially during deal sprints. Outside of these periods, the workload may be more manageable, but it is still expected to be demanding given the nature of the work at a megafund.
Reasonableness of Seniors: The reasonableness of seniors can vary. In some groups, seniors are more supportive and willing to help out rather than just ordering people around. This can contribute to a more positive work culture.
Comparison to Banking: The culture at Vista can be compared to banking in terms of intensity and workload. However, some aspects, such as the WFH policy and the supportiveness of seniors, might be better at Vista compared to certain banking environments.
Progression from Associate to Principal: As you move from associate to senior associate to principal and beyond, the expectations and responsibilities increase. The culture and work environment can also change, with higher-level positions potentially having more influence over the work culture and policies.

From friends that work there, I’ve heard culture is way better than 95% of MFs but still very tough. 80-90+ during deal sprints and 60-70 during lighter weeks. Because promotions are given to a minority, the place is notoriously competitive internally which might make things toxic. Also depends on your office (I’ve heard Austin is the sweatiest, SF less so). It is a MF so it’s what you’d expect, but they seem to be generally happier than the other big software PE players (rip TB and H&F associates)
