Thoma Bravo: Culture / Experience?

Hi all. I’m wondering if anyone has any insight on Thoma Bravo as a place to go as an Associate. There’s plenty of information on this site about their deals / investing style, so I’m wondering more about culture, hours, associate experience, and other related things. All info would be helpful. Thanks

Use the search, people have talked about this before at length.

Thoma is essentially the best software PE shop, or maybe 2nd best if you put Vista first. They do a variety of types of deals and structures, mainly buyouts, comp is standard for Megafunds these days and a pretty sweaty culture. I don't know if it's as bad as the Apollo's of the world, but it's definitely up there.

I heard a rumor that either TB or Vista ( can't remember which one) would asked a question in an interview which essentially was "One of your best friends is getting married and is having their wedding over the weekend, an urgent item comes up on a deal that's supposed to close at/around the same time which requires your full attention, what do you do?". Most candidates try to say that they would do their best to balance the two and that type of answer would get them an auto-ding. The only acceptable answer would be to prioritize the deal work...

The upside is, super sharp investors, killer returns, you'll learn a ton about investing, particular in technology, and everyone will know TB if it's on your resume.
