Purely judging by everything you said, it would seem this is the credit trading group of DB, similar to the credit trading groups of every BB - they market make for IG HY and Distressed corporate & structured credit be it bonds or loans. You have traders and sales and sales-traders who pitch positions and trades to hedge funds and institutional asset managers and there are risk limits for how much principal risk each book can have at the end of the day.

DB’s Global Credit Trading team does financing using the bank’s balance sheet and credit trading as mentioned above. It’s one of the strong groups within DB. The financing side is quite broad. There are teams that do commercial real estate, structured credit, special sits, etc. The work is quite similar to private credit.

Similar question too. If the financing team does direct lending to corporations and sponsors. Isn't it the same as a leveraged finance team?

It’s a large desk broken up by IG, HY, and Distressed Debt. Think they do some private financing and structure products but might be in another group if I remember right. The DPG desk is legit and is a pseudo prop desk given illiquidity of the positions. They crushed it back in the day with in Lehman bros and also recently for something (was in the news). Pretty legit desk with DPG desk getting good placements in distressed funds (can get interviews into silver points, anchorage, monarch, blue mountain type firms).
