Discontinued IB deals on resume for PE recruiting?

Can include on my resume without getting into legal issues if our client didn’t win the auction? It was a buy side advisory for a sponsor, deal already announced (one of our clients competitors acquired the target) but i want to include the experience on my resume for PE recruiting. can I include names of the client / target since the process is already over or do I need to keep everything anonymous

I think it's fine if the buyside fund you advised engaged all of its third parties for diligence and/or began negotiating the purchase agreement, but ultimately lost out to another bidder that moved faster or closed at a higher valuation. Otherwise you didn't get any relevant deal experience that is worth highlighting. Just say "Project - ABC: Advised $50bn AUM PE Fund on its potential acquisition of a $2bn health services provider". Then a couple bullets detailing what you actually did assuming its worthwhile deal experience. You can name the companies verbally in your actual interview if you get that far.
