DMing a current analyst about his comp?
I just got an internship offer from a GE shop; I was wondering if it's okay to LinkedIn DM a current analyst on the team I'd be working for about his comp?

No, not okay
Ya definitely don't do that lol.
bruh
I disagree. 100% do this! no downside at all. I always respond when prospective candidates ask me what I get paid
We love these inbounds.. they save us from wasting our time on unnecessary interviews
I second/third/fourth everyone saying here not to do this... but also, doesn't your contract have a comp amount in it?
Sure, I don't see anything wrong with this. Maybe while you're at it you can ask for his SSN and mother's maiden name?
this is so stupid because obviously it's not "proper" to do so, but at the same time, why be a dick like lol it's so dumb how Americans think about money, everyone is obsessed and only cares about it, but we really have to pretend like we don't 24/7?? so fucking annoying
While I agree with everyone that it’s inappropriate to ask an analyst about comp (particularly pre-internship), if you go through the internship and get a return offer, you should be able to reach out to your manager (whether that’s a principal, MD, or whomever) about expected analyst compensation. Some places are forthcoming and some places are not, but I wouldn’t expect your manager to view that as an inappropriate question when you’re considering accepting a return offer.
Good rule of thumb is to never discuss comp with coworkers
