Do PE and VC firms hire computer science majors?
Wouldn't they want people with technical backgrounds if most of their portcos are SaaS?
Background: I'm an incoming software engineer at UBS. I majored in computer science to open doors in the business world (the 5 biggest US companies are tech). Interned at a startup. I don't love coding, especially at a non tech company. But I'm not seeing tracks for non finance majors? Maybe the strategy is to use the cs degree to get into a good MBA program and use that to break into VC?
They told me it's pretty easy to lateral at UBS, so I could be front office in 1-2 years, but I'm not really interested in spending that long to get to an entry level role.
Sure, if you went to a good school and got a good GPA. Doesn't sound like you had any relevant internships though so will probably be uphill battle.
