Do you have your own office?
I have a friend who just joined a PE firm where associates and junior VPs share an office with another person. Meanwhile, senior VPs and upwards have their own offices. Is this common practice in PE? Seems like a major improvement to the open landscapes in IB.
VP+ have offices, analysts and associates are in cubes at my current firm. Seems to work reasonably well
My associate years were at a firm where Associates had offices
Having your own office as an associate sucks. It’s super isolating. Imagine IB without the bullpen as an analyst
Idk, I think it's still pretty easy to just go knock on someone's door if you need help. Open landscapes where you sit 10+ people really suck because there's no privacy at all. Also, focusing on something complex is incredibly difficult when you have colleagues who are on calls, people chatting etc.
no one at my firm has an office, including C-suite (entire firm is open floor plan), and all in all, i've enjoyed it this way. if we want privacy, there are a slew of conference rooms available, and if i want to concentrate, i pop in my airpods
My firm has offices for all associates and above
I've been in an office since I was an associate
Open plan for everyone where I'm at. And I wouldn't have it any other way tbh - although it's definitely noisier, I love the bustle of the office.
