Career Resources
Not much, particularly if you have strong performance and good references. If you're like Tier 1/2 (ivy or selective liberal arts) or Tier 3 (large state school), you're fine. If it's Tier 4 (less selective/relatively unknown schools), and you weren't an athlete, it's probably worth proactively providing backstory to firms/recruiters to avoid the question.
I can see how that's the case now since COVID pushed recruiting back, but what about when on-cycle was in September and analysts had just hit the desk? No one would have even had the time to build up a reputation or have flowing references
Given the caliber of those banks, Tier 1/2/3 from my note won't draw any scrutiny. It's the Tier 4 that I would be prepared to address if asked (family financial situation, athletic scholarship, immigrant upbringing, etc.). I imagine it would be the same pitch that got your bank comfortable.
Thanks for the advice. Super helpful.
