Energy Transition PE

Curious about comp and future of investing in this sector. Not directly in the space so correct me if I'm wrong, but I have seen some big firms like BX and TPG setting up their ET arms 3-4 years ago so pretty new. The future looks bright given the absurd amount of electricity data centers need. However, I have also read (on this platform) that ET funds have low IRR and are boring and won't do well (?), which I genuinely don't understand especially since these funds are relatively new (thus no track record) and can't help but thinking maybe people are only associating it with Infra while many portfolio companies of these funds are so much more than that, including Saas companies or equipment providers (more exciting).

Appreciate all insights as I am really into this space.
