Finance at Tech Company or Wall St

At an internship for one of the MAG7 companies. I always thought I would end up in PE instead. Hours are half of PE hours and junior comp is quite similar with long term upside of stock options. However long term it seems PE pay is higher and the work is more interesting. Additionally, the current job market is quite poor. What are your thoughts?

You wonder if the Mag7 is not the way to go anymore for stock options. I find it hard to believe they continue the appreciation they had over the past 15 years and the risks of upstart startups (probably will be coming back to this in 5 years lol). It may be better to find an AI adjacent company that could see an outsized returns.

No, I’m saying pay at senior levels makes it a tough choice. I’m in a specific finance role that wouldn’t translate to a startup or AI company. Of course the stock options will appreciate.
