First year comp...

I'm trying to figure out what the first year comp is for someone coming out of undergrad and going into PE? The firm is small, not in NYC (think: Miami, Dallas, Atlanta, Charlotte) has a bit over 100mm AUM, and just a few partners.

I assume that it would be very similar to a first year IB analyst, is that pretty accurate?

If anyone knows personally, or has a friend that entered PE right out of undergrad that can comment would be great. Thanks.

Regards

In banking, analysts' salaries are pretty standard (55-65k)+5-15k to signon+ EOY bonus.

In PE, especially from undergrad, salaries can very from 45k+ bonus to over 100k+

Thanks for the info. I realize this is a rather ambiguous question which has a lot of variables so I appreciate your effort.

I am mainly just trying to get a good idea of pay for someone coming out of undergrad, which is tough to say the least. I have found numbers for private equity analysts but I imagine most of those numbers reflect 2 previous years of IB experience, so would be on par with what the candidate would have received if they stayed in IB.

If any one else has any additional info that would be great.

Thanks again.

No, they don't have a sourcing model

There was an article on PE Hub in October giving numbers from Glocap and Thomson Reuters’ 2008 PE Compensation Report.

You have to have a membership to PE Hub to access it now in their archives, but I saved the article. For analysts straight out of undergrad at firms with $300mm under management:

Base: $55K-$75K Bonus: 25%-75%

Take that for what it's worth.
