Fund-of-fund Internship - Yay or Nay?

Hey folks,

I'm an undergraduate in Singapore. Was offered an internship (research and due diligence) at a PE FoF with a considerable global AUM but less so in Asia. The firm plans to expand so I reckon if I perform well my chances of a full-time conversion is rather high. I do not have other internship offers in the bag.

I was wondering if this path would be ideal, if my longer term goal is to be running a fund (as a partner) that does direct investments? Would the traditional IBD - PE path better equip me with the requisite skills and network? Or perhaps the Big 4 Corp Fin pathway would be superior too?

Would appreciate any advice, cheers.

Thanks for the feedback folks. It seems like IB is still the ideal route to a fund that does direct investments.

I was thinking of applying for other internship openings but I suppose this opportunity is still worthy on its own.

Have any of you heard of people who moved from an FoF to direct investment (without prior direct investment experience? Anything in particular who enabled the move?

Cheers
