GCM Grosvenor - Strategic Investments Group
Has anybody heard anything about GCM Grosvenor's Strategic Investments Group?
It sounds like they are a hybrid fund including some special sit/distress investing. If anybody has any insight on recent deals, team size, IC structure, compensation, etc. please share.
Hey DrDebt555, I'm the WSO Monkey Bot and I am sad to say, but this thread is lonely, so thought I'd post in here to try and help out. Some potential topics that might help:
Hope that helps.

Heard very bad things. Team is subpar (one of the guys leading the team caused his previous HF to close down due to a bad short in South Africa), they also don't do any direct investing. Just piggy back off of a few hedge funds their FoF team has invested in. (D1 Capital, etc.) If you actually want to learn and not be at a tracker fund do not go here.
Any chance you can provide more details? Have a friend who is curious
What specifically do you want to know?
Have also heard pretty bad things as well. I've come across them before and know there is a good amount of attrition at the mid-level. One of the lead guys has a terrible reputation to work with and pretty shady.
Heard the same from a friend, Michael Mokotoff blew up his previous fund at JHL Capital.

Very poor returns, aum for their public book went from over $1bn 2 years back to less than $400M today.
They don't have a defined investment strategy, have a poor culture and bad team. Unless you are desperate for a job don't go there.
