Morgan Stanley Global Capital Markets 1st Round Interview
I have a 1st round interview with this group tomorrow for their 2015 SA Program.
In addition to knowing fundamental banking technicals and IPOs, is there anything else that I should be focusing on?
Any advice/insight on this would be much appreciated.
Would also like to know this..I'm assuming you are correct, and that there will be more market related questions like in an S&T interview in comparison to IBD. At least that is how I'm approaching it..

No technicals required. Focus on what do you think about the markets and similar questions. So follow the markets.
Know why companies would chose to issue debt vs. equity, and also understand the difference between what an equity and debt investor are looking for. Definitely have some understanding of whats going on in the markets right now, and know how various current events are affecting them. Don't need to be a market expert, but be able to have a semi-intelligent conversation about them. Also make sure you can specify why you're interesting in capital markets vs. a coverage group
Any specific behavioral questions about teamwork or things like that?
Any specific behavioral questions about teamwork or things like that?
Yeah. The interview was actually much more behavioral than I thought, especially in comparison to Coverage IBD.
Did anyone hear back from 1st round?
Not yet, I'm assuming invites will go out this coming week, as first rounds were probably all conducted the end of this past week.
My interviewer said that we could possibly hear as late as the new year. That would actually make more sense given that this is the week of Christmas and HR, among all people, is definitely not working at this time of year.
Good to hear....appreciate you posting that info.
Got an invite about a week ago fyi
When did you interview? I just had my phone interview on Friday, December 19th.
Have you heard back yet, either way?
Hey guys, my interview with the group is in a few weeks. Any advice?

I had a super day for the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Summer Analyst Program two weeks ago, and just received a call yesterday saying they felt that I would be a better fit for the Global Capital Markets Summer Analyst Program. I have to redo the whole interview process.
Is this a good sign? I do not know much about the GCM SA program, but I would be very interested in learning more and working with the group this summer. Do I need to start practicing my technicals? Let me know your thoughts.
You got moved from wealth management to GCM..... I would say that's definitely a good sign
Thanks. Just worried about having to interview for a more technical position.
Thanks, anyone else had an interview with GCM or have any insight?
