Genstar AUM to headcount
Friend sent me a recruiting email that said Genstar's AUM is $49bn with 27 investment professionals. Can anyone verify that? Seems insane. Has to be the most efficient out there

Hey retard- just use Google or ChatGPT
Goddamn 😂😂 they don't report how many investment professionals they have
Ever heard of LinkedIn…
Sweatshop tho
They’re up there with Veritas for highest AUM / IP…seems like they have nicer people though
Clearlake should have a very high AUM to headcount as well
Would look at their latest fund size vs. AUM. Rule of thumb in private equity, funds calculate AUM differently.
Everyone in the MM space (Ik their fund size is way larger than MM, but they are fundamentally investors in MM businesses) says they have differentiated operational experience... Genstar actually has it. Pretty sure their loss ratio is either 0% or something ridiculously low, and every fund is top quartile. Good people, great returns, rapidly growing, and a history of promotions internally. If I were an IB analyst right now and wanted to do PE in the long run, this would be one of the best spots to target.
If this is true how do they have so few investment professionals? Is it a total sweatshop or do they have a big bench of operators?
Really large set of operators on deck for them. Truly great operators with genuine expertise. Very lean investment team: would guess sweaty but all nice guys (at least from my banking seat view).
what other MMs with differentiation. GTCR, Alpine?
GTCR is objectively not a MM firm They just exited Worldpay at $24bn, that's as "UMM" as it gets
Genstar is very awesome. I went MF and regret not taking my offer there
Any insight on timelines for their processes?
Had a great conversation with Ratio regarding them but haven't heard anything for a month - was told they were at very early stages of looking at CVs but want to know if I'm cooked.
Is Genstar still recruiting for 2026 or is this for 2027?
Confirmed fantastic culture and runs lean due to operating advisor expertise. Overall much more efficiently run than most funds at the $10B+ size.
