Glendower Capital
Can anyone give me some insight on Glendower Capital? Looks like they are a small PE firm based in London but I was just reached out to regarding an analyst program in NYC.
If anyone has any idea on what their comp / culture / interview process is like please let me know.
Thank you!
Not that small…they’re a major player in the secondaries world so read up on that. It’s not a traditional buyout PE role but it’s an interesting area to be involved in.
I know a bit about their London Office, They are a spin-off from Deutsche bank and are pretty Big in the secondaries market. seems like a pretty interesting opportunity would be interested to hear more about ur experiences in the interview if that's cool with you.
Absolutely - I've dropped my resume, so if I hear anything further I will update.
Do you have any updates? I'm interested in learning about how their process goes.
Hey just commenting to see how it went?
They were recently bought by CVC
They were recently acquired. They focus on GP led deals. Pay is strong/market.
How do they compare to Pantheon or CPP?
Also do you have any details on hours?
Well, for starters, Glendower is an asset manager that has to raise money and has a track record, similiar to Pantheon, while CPP is a pension with endless capital.
CPP can sit on their ass and just review co-invests all day and don't have to do any proactive sourcing.
Pantheons returns are pretty lucklustre and thought of more as a fund of funds shop. Their secondaries have not performed well at all.
Agree with this. They focus on the not so straightforward GP leds in the LMM / MM. Pay is competitive / strong vs market.
On culture, I heard it’s not great. A friend interviewed someone who worked there and said the candidate seemed pretty set on moving due to culture reasons.
Thanks for sharing this. Are you able to elaborate a bit?
Any idea how strong/competitive the pay is? Any figures?
Do they really pay more than Ardian/ Hamilton Lane/ StepStone?
Those three groups are pretty different. For starters, HL does not pay well.
Any idea who the headhunter for Glendower is in the US?
Pretty sure it's PER
I had interviewed with them via Pinnacle quite a while back
Strong secondaries guys with big focus on GP-led transactions. Interviewed with them a while back and generally liked the culture from everyone I spoke to. As others mentioned above, they were recently acquired by CVC. Not sure if CVC had an existing secondaries group but if not, I'd imagine that is the role Glendower would take for them.
CVC did not have an existing secondaries group - they acquired Glendower for this purpose. Too bad Glendowers deals suck. Single asset deals that are hitting a net 1.6x while the rest of the direct secondary guys are doing 2-2.5x.
Seeing as how the majority of single asset transactions got done within the last year, I'm not sure how that is possible (2-2.5x). And no I don't work at Glendower.
Hello, what type of questions were you asked during the interview?
Bump on comp and culture? Are they going to be merging names as well under CVC if they were acquired ?
Buddy works there. Heart great stuff
can you elaborate pls
