Going to FAANG Corp Dev

Hey everyone - curious how people have transitioned from IB/PE to corpdev at FAANG/other places where comp isnt too big of a “step down”. did 2 years at a tech ib group and then 1+years at a software PE shop. Im still in the seat but trying to figure out how to even start learning more here / how to recruit. There doesnt seem to be any HHs so would love to understand how others have approached this

Know 3 people who made the move who were alumni and friends from College. 1 went to Netflix, comp is still pretty great and all cash no bonus no equity. They bought a house out in Los Gatos and they have a nice family. Seems really damn nice TBH. Another stayed in NY and joined a fintech, ramp IIRC. Lots of monopoly money, but they briefly reached 8 figure wealth when the valuation went sky high. Its come down a bit, but it should go up once again before they IPO. Looks like they'll beat their comp from IB/PE. 3rd went to Google. Comp sunk quite a lot, but WLB is amazing. Morale is lower due to layoffs and poorer culture than it used to be(a lot of my friends at Google comment on how it ain't the same anymore, but that's besides the point).

You just need to pick the right circumstance. The best way to make money in tech is to join a low valuation unicorn/unicorn light(500M-5B valuation) with a lot of room to grow and good leadership. You can also choose the more chill lifestyle of big tech. Lots of options in tech, so keep an open mind. Good luck
