GTCR Capital Solutions

Any insights into this strategy / team? Information online seems to be sparse. From what I can tell they seem to be a private side capital provider, with a focus on structured equity. Are they flexible across the cap stx? What does the culture look like?

Idk about culture. Regarding cap stack, yea that's the whole point. For this one my educated guess would be ITC, back leverage, all types of hybrids to all types of structures, long deal timelines highly legal.

Thanks for the response, and makes sense. So hybrids but leaning equity / mezz financing. Also - wdym by ITC? The only ITC I know of is an investment tax credit - how could this be used in structured equity? Lastly, know of any good resources to prep for their process / get up to speed on this type of investing, coming from an RX background?

Ed Bodmer for the ITC stuff. For structured equity I'm not sure. You should just pull deals and model the IRR. I know that sounds crazy but like that's the whole gig. Break it into sections and just calculate one at a time. For securitization there's a boot camp I did.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, GTCR is known for having a strong software group and operates as a solid player in the private equity space. While specific details about GTCR Capital Solutions are not explicitly mentioned, GTCR as a whole is described as "sweaty all around," indicating a demanding work environment. The firm is recognized for its strong returns and a verticalized approach, particularly in Chicago, where it is considered a "big fish in a small pond."

Regarding flexibility across the capital structure, GTCR's general reputation suggests a focus on structured and strategic investments, but there isn't explicit confirmation in the context about their flexibility across the capital stack. For culture, the firm is noted for being intense, with junior staff often facing high expectations and workloads. However, the experience is considered valuable for those looking to gain meaningful involvement in various aspects of the business.
