This was for a SA role. But he recruited with the understanding that the SA role was a pipeline for a FT analyst spot. He turned it down for a top EB. He thought it was a great opportunity with great b-school placement but I think his reasoning was as follows: he really wanted to be in NY over Chicago, he was pretty confident in his ability to exit to a similar UMM or MF after his banking stint, and he had senior mentors telling him 2 years in banking were a valuable experience over going direct to buyside.
