Help me understand if this internship position is similar to an investment analyst?

Hi guys!

I have been offered an opportunity to internship at a firm providing a platform that connects GPs to LPs, to invest in private markets. It is focused on Big Data.

The position is named "Private Equity Big Data Analyst Intern". However, after several interviews, I am still unsure whether it is similar to a usual Private Equity Investment Analyst Intern Position. It is a bit too late now to ask for such clarifications after receiving an offer...

Here are the tasks I would be in charge of:

  • Coordinating client investment data handling with accurate and timely feedback. In other words, fulfill project manager role in data analytics related projects, and collaborate with cross-functional teams across different geographies and time zones. Manage schedules and overall project status to ensure requirements and project deliverable dates are clearly communicated, understood and executed upon across cross-functional teams.

  • Creating trusted relationships with clients to position CEPRES solutions, professionally present CEPRES solutions to current and prospective clients

  • Maintaining the highest levels of client satisfaction amongst clients through professional and timely communications and actions

• Developing and producing presentations, descriptive documentations regarding the platform (written and digital) for internal and external clients

Please, what do you guys think of this internship? I feel like it is more of a mix between an operations/middle office and Investor Relationship position.

Please tell me if I am wrong. I need to answer ASAP.

Thank you so much in advance for your help.

Best

I don't see anything in the description you provided that indicates you will get investing experience out of this. It appears they want you to be a project coordinator for the people managing the investment data, and do a sales/ customer support job for their CEPRES platform. Also, unless they have a large customer base or a large number of transactions, it will not be a big data project.
