How much easier is a PE Analyst interview compared to a PE Associate interview?

Maybe a dumb question, but I'm curious. Has anyone experienced a few of both and can tell? I know both are likely more difficult than their IB counterparts, but I have a PE Analyst interview soon and want to know if I am "overpreparing" if I'm looking at PE Associate materials. I want to be sure I'm focused on the important stuff.

I'd say lateral analyst with 1+ year of experience will be nearly identical to the ASO materials, but grad analyst will be pretty different.

Once you have experience, that is the main focus of the interview. If you're still in college you should prep similar to an IB interview with technicals, maybe a bit more focus on LBOs as well as stuff like "why PE?" "why this industry?". The questions are all quite different given you wouldn't have much experience outside of class projects or an internship to draw on

Thanks! And yes, I'm a 1+ year lateral, so that's good to know.

Did the interview. I don't know if this is the norm, but it was pretty easy. Very technical, but the technicals were basic as can be, aside from maybe one tricky question.

Not much deal discussion, but I did a walkthrough and a investment recommendation. They applauded the fact I said "no".
