I need of clarity and guidance( Career Switch)

Complex story but here we go...

I got 2 years of strategy consulting experience at a Tier 2 consulting firm and a few months of PE experience and got retrenched due to covid 19. I got an opportunity to work in equity research for a top tier BB but I still want to be in PE but the opportunities right now are hard to come by. Wanted to ask what are my options? Should I take the job in equity research and try to pivot to IBD and eventually to PE again or try my luck again to pivot to PE after a few months of ER.

Thanks for your help!
