Independent Portfolio Monitoring firm

Wondering if there are teams of ex-PE professionals (or consultants or similar backgrounds) that have set up their own shop to offer PE funds to outsource the heavy lifting of portfolio monitoring to them for a fee. Particularly helpful if the PE professionals live far away from the asset and it needs more attention than what the PE team can offer. The fees could be paid from the portfolio company (so no need to allocate management fees).

Has anyone come across anything similar? Would be helpful if you could share any links or provide insights.
