Is it weird for a current full-time analyst to apply to 2023/24 internship programs?

I'm currently in the process of applying/preparing for MBA/Master's for 2023/24 intake and plan to quit my current work before summer. With such plan in sight, does it make sense if I apply to PE/Private Credit summer internship programs? Or will they just see it as weird... Will have two years of experience upon matriculation, and wanted to ask about this as I want to start early and thought it would be good to get internship experience before I get into MBA/Master's in 2023. Thanks a lot everyone!!
I have seen people do short jobs outside of their previous main employment just before joining their MBA programs. It could make sense.
