Lateral within Megafund

Hey guys,

First time poster here. Wondering what people’s thoughts are on lateral opportunities within a megafund — specifically from a mezzanine / stressed credit group to a buyout group. Currently a first year Associate and thinking about getting some equity experience before I decide to walk down the credit path forever. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

It's definitely possible but not super common. I know a guy who went from credit at a notorious MF to their buyout team, then he left after finishing as an associate to another MF buyout team in a VP/Principal role. Have not seen a ton of profiles like his though personally.
