Learning about deal opportunities

Hi all,

For context, I'm a Singaporean who's just completed a contract gig in PE, and about to start a permanent role with a mid-market fund in Asia. Still early in my investing career, but I've been thinking a lot about the sourcing aspect of private equity.

Based on what I've seen so far, it's not enough to rely on your banking relationships to hear about great deals. It seems like you need to track companies before they even begin a process, so that if/when they do come to the market, you can present yourself as a favoured buyer, because you've genuinely been interested in them for a while, and have a deep understanding of the business.

Based on this assumption (and please feel free to let me know if this is inaccurate), I was wondering what resources folks on this site use to stay updated on companies/sectors i.e. if there are industry specific publications, podcasts, forums, etc that people follow to learn about potential new opportunities.
