Making the Transition to PE

Hi all,

Im ~2 years into a stint at a MM bank covering TMT. Really like my role at the moment, but when I consider options down the line I don’t foresee myself being a SS analyst, and have no interest in calling qtrs at a HF. I do have an interest in finding/investing in good businesses over longer time horizons, which would lead me down a long-only path, but also fits the bill of Private Equity in a way. I have a strong understanding of the software/internet space & relevant sub sectors, as well as very good modeling skills FWIW.

In that case, I am wondering how I could make this transition, how to market myself to do so, and any hurdles that I’ll have to move around (besides the obvious of not having any experience running a process). Any advice is appreciated, I’m sure there are other threads on here that covers the basics but would love to dive deeper.
