Marketing/IR Job Offer - Feedback Welcome

I'm wrapping up a final round and it's fairly clear I should hopefully have an offer to join an NYC MM - think firms like TJC, TowerBrookLindsay Goldberg, American Securities, Court Square, and KPS.

It's a fairly small shop (45-65 people), they've been around a while and the team I'd be working with seems great. I'd be joining before they start fundraising within the next year or so and it looks like a huge growth opportunity, given I'm in PE client services/finance adjacent areas now.

I know this forum is primarily IB to PE people but was hoping for any input on your relationship with the fundraising teams, what kind of work environment I should expect, red or green flags to look for and any questions you think are valuable in the job process. I'm in the middle of interviewing with two other companies as well (albeit in a different space), so any advice y'all could give to help me decide on taking the job vs. not would be much appreciated.

For these types of seats it’s helpful to understand how the group is split between investor relations/client service and business development/fundraising. Some teams do both, some clearly divide responsibilities and some don’t really have an internal BD team and rely on placement agents. From a compensation perspective you want to be aligned with the sales team and if you are you’ll ultimately do well for yourself.

I would also ask about the relationship between the investment team and IR/BD. Having a good dialogue with that side of the house is helpful as a marketer.
