MFs have started to have teams focused on growth investing like KKR NGT, WP Growth, BX Growth, etc.
Is it a better opportunity to work on one of these teams or at a pure growth shop like GA/TPG/Insight/Summit?

just went through on cycle this past fall, not going growth but can share some thoughts from the analysts in my group as I debated between PE and growth.
generally the MF shop growth arms are just an add on to the platform to get bigger and diversify. they generally are not very emphasized and are kind of a fringe group. that’s why you don’t really hear about Carlyle growth much for example. one exception would be TPG Growth which has a very good reputation.
the traditional growth shops are tried and true to the strategy. your experience at GA (which just raised another fund in this environment) is going to be far far better than at KKR growth or another MF
