This just made my week
A bit of a bottom-feeder (value?) industrial fund. Auto, distribution, etc. Very operationally focused. In my past life, they re-traded me the M&A desk at the eleventh hour, but their bidding approach may have improved since then since that's a one-way street to lower deal flow in the future.
Would you say they are considered to be a top shop? How does their reputation compare to firms like Blackstone and Warburg?

Not comparable. MCP is sub-$5bn AUM. They're bidding squarely on middle market deals. Guess it depends on what you define as "top shop," but it's not a megafund.
