Never included in emails

Ignore title but Associate 1 at a very small private equity fund. Every time I send a piece of work to my director, he forwards it on to the partners / external (not clients) without cc’ing or including me in any of the emails. Am I right to be annoyed by this? In my view, it feels that he is attempting to claim the work as his own rather than share ownership (cc’ing typically implies that). Or am I overreacting?

I agree that it’s annoying but I think it’s kinda obvious that the director isn’t doing any of the work lol.

What do others think? Is this normal in PE?

FWIW I actually think this is less bad than it could be.. where your director copies and pastes your email to send up the chain instead of forwarding (i.e. so it doesn't have your name on it at all). At least this way you're getting credit.
As someone who routinely accidentally leaves juniors off emails, I would suggest casually asking to be included for [insert positive reason like you'd like to continue to do more, or you're deeply interested in the content and eager to stay in the flow, or you want to avoid having to pester your director for information]. It's a bad trait for middle-managers, but I find that most will respect you for gently calling it out.
