Nontarget Low GPA With Experience Recruiting Private Equity

I am currently a Junior at a non-target school and have been working at a boutique real estate private equity firm for the past year. Prior to this, I had a non-analytical role at a venture capital firm. My experience at the REPE is very good, and I am currently looking for opportunities in the REPE space. I've also gotten a return offer after graduation but they're making me get experience at another corporate environment to gain experience on different asset classes because I've only worked on one particular one. They've also told me that I'd be welcome to return if I'd like. The only think holding me back is that I have a 3.3 GPA and was mostly effected during my time as an engineering major freshman year.

I've found myself in the final super-day round at several large PE firms like Hines this past recruiting season, but have yet to secure an offer for this upcoming summer. Every individual I've spoken with tells me I have great experience and am motivated, but I keep losing opportunities to target school kids.

It's December, and I'm starting to loose hope on finding a larger firm to intern with this upcoming summer. Already, I speak to just about everyone I can get a hold of and have about 2-3 phone calls a week. I'm looking for different strategies when going about recruiting.
