On cycle 2027 Megathread

No one wants someone to make this post, but as an incoming PE associate 1 this summer, I’ve confirmed that my fund is targeting on-cycle to be Thursday / Friday of this week. They said there is a chance it is even earlier this week but right now it’s looking like those are the dates. Last year for context, Advent kicked it off on a Monday but people surprisingly kept it pretty quiet the weekend prior. (Fuck Ratio btw).

Some advice. If you’re not prepared or fully sure, DONT INTERVIEW. Many spots off cycle to be had and this year will be even more true. For 2025/2026 pretty much every MF was on the market last couple of weeks so don’t think the train is leaving the station

This is definitely some kid trying to inhibit people from preparing / participating out of self-interest.

Y'all are ragging on this kid but from the other side of the table they're objectively giving good advice on (1) off-cycles being stretched these days (yes there are still 2025 and especially 2026 MF seats out there) and (2) it being better to go off-cycle than on if you're not model test-ready or paper LBO-ready or don't have target -> GS/MS/JPM/EB credentials

People MSing are people that don't want on cycle to kick off.

That won't change whether on cycle will actually kick off though, and every single year once coffee chats start happening, it kicks off within a week. If someone is on here saying it will kick off this week, its pretty much guaranteed that it will. Its not misinformation, its happening, like it or not.
